Weight, dimensions and both postcodes.
Four road freight services across the UK, quoted to timings the law actually allows.
A dedicated vehicle costs more and removes the two things that go wrong in shared freight: handling at a depot and a route that serves other customers first. For fragile, high-value or genuinely time-critical loads it is usually the cheaper option once a failure is priced in.

Matched to the load, not to availability.
What hours rules actually allow.
Collected and delivered, no transhipment.
Whether it suits shared transport.
Advice on building the pallet.
Within an agreed window.
With proof of delivery returned.
Most consignments do not need a whole lorry. Shared transport is cheaper and involves handling at a depot, so we will tell you plainly when a load is too fragile or awkward for it — a pallet that will be double-stacked needs to be built for that.
Urgent work is where corners get cut, and cut corners in haulage mean a driver over hours. We work out what is genuinely achievable from the collection point, quote that, and tell you when the time you need is not possible — rather than accepting the job and hoping.
Distance against lawful driving time.
Including when it cannot be done.
Vehicle allocated immediately.
Progress reported, not guessed.
What moves, where and how often.
Fixed days and windows.
Agreed for the term in writing.
Adjusted as volumes change.
For predictable weekly movements a scheduled arrangement costs less than booking ad hoc and gives you the same driver, who learns your site, your loading bay and your paperwork. Rates are agreed for the term rather than quoted afresh each week.
